I THOUGHT I’D be itching to get back home, but it’s been the opposite. My roof is finished; it took two days to patch, so there’s no reason for me to stay, but I decided to do a little renovating. Actually, I’ve been thinking about buying something with a bigger workshop and more than my current three bedrooms.

Before I head out for work, I stop by Jade’s apartment. It makes no sense for us to ride separately since she’s coming back after being gone for a week. Normally, my ride to work is quiet, but with Jade, the ride is never quiet. We’ve learned more about each other since I’ve been staying here, and the more I learn, the more I like.

Things like one year in elementary school, she would only wear purple, head to toe. That she begged for her room to be purple, and now, she can’t stand the color. That she took every kind of dance lesson possible, but she really wanted to learn to play guitar. Then I told her it was ironic that I took guitar lessons, but I dreamed of dancing on Broadway. She proceeded to hit me on the arm because she didn’t believe me, but it was the truth; I thought that stomping shit was awesome. Once she started telling me that she was on the gymnastics team, my side of the conversation ended. I kept envisioning all the ways I could bend her body the next time I took her, which will have to be soon.

As I knock on her door, she answers dressed and ready to go. I bought her a pair of boots online when she started coming on the site in a pair of Chucks. A nail could go right through those things. She tried to argue that ones with heels were practical because they had three inches of rubber to protect her, but she was joking. Then when she saw that the boots I bought her were pink, her eyes lit up. Seeing her wearing them, with her tight as hell jeans and an equally snug t-shirt, is worthy of a vision or two. Her in nothing but my tool belt and those shoes. It seems I'm never shy of fantasies when Jade is around.

“Are you ready to go?” I ask when she steps aside to let me in.

“All set, boss.”

I grab the bag with her equipment in it by the door and head down to my truck. It’s been an argument since I’ve been living here.

“I’m quite capable of carrying my own cameras, Jeremy.”

“Not while I’m here and have working hands, you won’t.”

“I’ve been doing it for years.”

“Well, you’re about due a break then.”

Standing behind her now does nothing to help my earlier thoughts. Her ass is fine. After I open her door and put her bag on the floor, I can't help it when I give her a boost up by pushing on said ass.

“What are you doing?” she asks.

“Helping you up like I always do.
